NEW boys Cullingworth missed out on promotion from Division Two of the Foster's Halifax League last season.

But the former Craven League side have no intention of failing in their second campaign and were 110-run winners over visitors Great Horton Park Chapel in a top-of-the-table clash.

Top four Steve Welch (87), Adrian Powis (52), Graham Rankin (76) and Chris Welch (49) helped Cullingworth rattle up 322-6 against eight bowlers on their narrow ground.

Chapel were forced to settle for maximum batting points at 212-7 for seven, with Adam Beesley unbeaten on 68 and Matthew Jordan making 60 as Rankin took 3-21.

Outlane were unable to maintain their decent start, losing at home to Clayton, for whom Joe Selby (6-39), Andrew Windle (3-21) and Tim Shackleton (44) were key figures as the visitors won by two wickets.

Perennial strugglers Old Town could not follow up their win at Upper Hopton the previous week as Leigh Butterfield's 74 helped visitors Shelf to join them on 27 points at the foot of the table with a 69-run win.

Mohammed Sohail came up trumps for ten-man Greetland, who beat visitors Denholme Clough by 74 runs.

Sohail's 6-14 included a hat-trick as Clough's pursuit of 225 for victory fell away and they were all out for 150 (Mohammed Zhabair Yousaf 50).

It was the second six-wicket haul of the game, Tanweer Aslam having taken 6-66 to peg Greetland back after Warren Forster and Shakir Malik had both hit 61.

Jer Lane, chasing a hat-trick of titles and now the only unbeaten side in the Premier Division, had to work hard for a nine-run home win over Queensbury.

Gurdev Singh (5-67 and 43) was the game's star performer but Queensbury (202-9) could not quite chase down Lane's 211-8 after Jason Slator (46no) had anchored their reply when Jamie Priestley was dismissed for 59.

Imran Irtza (48no) top-scored for the hosts, while Nasir Chowdrey took 4-63 and Simon Collins 3-78.

Dom Walsh of Blackley made the top section's biggest score of the day (137) but still finished on the losing side at Thornton.

All the hosts' top five scored well to post 228-3 (Greg Soames 50, Tom Harrison 46, Nikki Hutchinson 38, Michael Shanks 42no, Josh Hutchinson 28no) but Blackley fell four runs short with their last pair at the crease.

Walsh was eighth out at 217 when falling to Josh Hutchinson (5-69), who tipped the scales Thornton's way.

Joint-Division One leaders Northowram Hedge Top's batting was found wanting at Low Moor in their pursuit of the hosts' 203-7.

Opener Andy Croasdell (70), Nick Wood (41) and Brian Williamson (39no) contributed before Williamson showed he had a second string to his bow by taking 3-24 as the Rams subsided to 145 all out.

Stones remain bottom after a 134-run defeat at Oxenhope, for whom No 9 Spencer Mawer made 56 not out in their 219 before Liam Dyson took 5-39 and Jazdev Jheeta 3-27.
