DESPITE being a few riders short for both the senior and junior match, Heckmondwike Cycle Speedway Club members rode well against Astley and Tyldesley in Manchester, losing the senior contest 90-59.

Heckmondwike scorers: Pawel idziorek 18, Adam Watson 12, Darren Kent 9, Justin Naylor 7+1, Laura Watson 7+1, Mick Knowles 6.

In the junior match, Heckmondwike only had three riders compared to the home team's six, but Will Naylor shone and was only one point off a maximum in a 64-38 defeat.

Heckmondwike scorers: Will Naylor 15, Tom Whitwam 13, Bella Naylor 10.

Heckmondwike now get a two-week break from racing but training continues as normal on Wednesdays (7.30pm-9pm) at Firth Park, Heckmondwike, WF16 0HH wf160hh (opposite Morrisons' petrol station).
