WYKE are through to the Yorkshire Junior League Under-15 Continuation Cup quarter-finals after a 46-0 home win over Whinmoor Warriors.

The visitors defended superbly at times but still conceded first-half tries to Danny Worby and Ben Proctor, who also kicked a goal.

But once stand-off Cameron Scott had scored in the second half, the floodgates opened, with tries for Bailey Sharkey, Jake McCormack, Liam Walker, Scott (2) and skipper Sebastian Blanco, Scott (2) and Proctor (2) adding the goals.

Scott could have completed his hat-trick but instead chose to pass along the line to put centre Keiron Underdown over.

Awards – Man of the match: Blanco; top tackler: Connor Fawcett; parents' player of the match: Walker; players' player: McCormack.

Wyke's under-eights, who only had nine players, won by nine tries to eight at Heworth, with Alfie Barraclough leading the defensive effort by walking a Heworth player back half the length of the pitch.

Among the try-scorers were Charlie McShera (5), Lucas Range-Bennett (2) and Andrew Parkin.
