Michael Platt faces a race against time to play against his former club as an injury crisis looms at Grattan Stadium.

The prolific Bulls full back is desperate to face Castleford Tigers in Friday's Carnegie Challenge Cup clash but is currently struggling with a calf tear.

Steve McNamara has already seen Shontayne Hape (knee) ruled out for the season while Jamie Langley (calf), Ben Harris (knee) and Glenn Morrison (ankle) are also doubtful.

Platt limped off in the first half of Sunday's loss to Catalans Dragons but returned to finish the game.

However, the £10,000 close-season buy from Castleford now has a fight on to prove his fitness before the tricky fourth-round tie at Odsal.

"It's touch and go," said Platt. "I'll be doing everything I can to get out there as Cas are one of my former clubs and obviously I was looking forward to playing them.

"I'm normally a quick healer so hopefully I'll be all right but we'll have to see. I've torn some fibres in my calf and it's still painful."

Platt was in the Castleford side that suffered relegation last season and is still big mates with Danny Brough, Michael Shenton and Andy Henderson - brother of Bulls team-mate Ian.

"I get the odd texts and funnily enough, their physio rang on Monday night as well just to see how I was," said Platt.

"He was after some inside info but obviously didn't get any!"

Platt, 23, added: "It'll be a tough match. I've seen the players Cas have managed to keep, they're going well and are putting big scores on a lot of teams in the Northern Rail Cup.

"I'm sure they'll be looking at this game to see where they are against a Super League side and I know, if we don't perform, there will be a shock in store."
