TRANSFER-listed Thistle star Adam Strachan will try to win himself a move to a German Second Division club next week.

Strachan will jet out of Glasgow on Sunday for a week-long trial with a Bundesliga outfit, in an attempt to earn himself a permanent move.

The 19-year-old, who still has 18 months left on his contract, has been put up for sale by Jags gaffer Dick Campbell.

His form has been erratic and he was involved in a bust-up with Marc Smyth, which led to the former Jags skipper being axed.

If the wide player wins a move abroad, then the Firhill club will be in line to receive a sizeable transfer fee.

Strachan has already been the subject of a £30,000 bid from Hamilton - who Thistle play at New Douglas Park tomorrow - last season.

Campbell said: "This trial has been arranged by Adam's agent. He will spend a few days over in Germany training next week. If they want to sign him after that, then we will be due compensation as he is contracted to Thistle until the end of next season.

"Adam was stagnating at Thistle this season and I thought it was best for both his career and for the club for him to move on.

"A few Second Division clubs in Scotland have expressed an interest in taking him on loan. If the Germany thing doesn't work out, that is what will happen."

Campbell has not ruled out the possibility of bringing in another player to strengthen his squad before the January transfer window closes.

He said: "It is very, very unlikely that we will get anybody else on board before our game on Saturday, but I wouldn't rule it out before the end of the season."

Meanwhile, Campbell is looking forward to playing on Hamilton's artificial pitch for the first time - because the game is virtually guaranteed to go ahead.

And Dick, whose side came back from being two goals behind after just over a minute last week to draw 2-2 with leaders Gretna at Firhill, reckons a win can keep their title bid on track.

He added: "I'm not a fan of artificial pitches for playing games on, even though I like them for training on as you get such a true surface.

"But at least we are more or less certain that the game will go ahead despite the dreadful weather that has curtailed our training.

"Apart from Craig Sives, we have a full squad to choose from and we will be going to Hamilton looking to try and pick up all three points.

"I was very pleased with the fighting spirit we showed to come back and earn a point against Gretna last week, after suffering such a dreadful start.

"However, we were at home and I was disappointed that we didn't manage to finish the match with all three points. We had our chances to win it.

"I always knew this team had fighting spirit in spades. This season when results were going against us it was other things that were the problem."

Elsewhere, Campbell stressed that his players would not be paying any special attention to Hamilton's hot property, James McCarthy.

The 16-year-old has hit the headlines in recent weeks after attracting attention from a host of big clubs - including Celtic, Chelsea, Rangers and Liverpool.

But Dick insisted: "You can't afford to concentrate on just one player when you play a team as you will undoubtedly come unstuck.

"I've seen this wonderkid' who has been attracting all the attention in action before and I am sure he has a bright future in the game ahead of him. But I think Billy Reid (Hamilton manager) will be more worried by our players."
