BAILDON'S Rhea Southcott is following in the footsteps of Jessica Ennis-Hill.
The 13-year-old is the United Kingdom's top-ranked under 15 pentathlete, and scored 300 more points in becoming an England Athletics combined events champion in Sheffield than the 2012 Olympic champion managed at the same age.
A pupil at Titus Salt School, the Leeds City Athletics Club member scored 3,411 points in the England Athletics Indoor Championship in Sheffield after competing in the high jump, long jump, shot put, 60 metre hurdles and 800 metres.
Rhea's points score was also higher than UK heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson achieved at the same age, and she is now ranked third in the all-time UK rankings for under-15 pentathlon.
In addition, she recently won the 2015 Manchester Combined Events and Sheffield Indoor Series under-15 championships.
And in the latest Northern Athletics Championships, Rhea, who is coached by Matt Barton, won two silver medals and one bronze to go with the bronze she took in the high jump at the England Athletics Individual Championships.
