ECCLESHILL United finally got their first home win under Gerard Jones but they had to come back from 2-0 down against Teversal to do it in a seven-goal thriller.

The visitors opened the scoring when Oliver Roome followed up the rebound after Joe Stead had saved a third-minute penalty by Matthew Langley.

Midway through the first half, Toby Birch netted Teversal’s second after some poor defending by the home side.

The comeback began after the break as the Eagles turned the game on its head with three goals inside 16 minutes. Josh Rosenstrauch scored Eccleshill’s first eight minutes into the second half and bagged his brace four minutes later.

Charlie Flaherty put the Eagles in front for the first time just after the hour-mark. It wasn’t until the penultimate minute that Ishmael Mills added Eccleshill’s fourth before the visitors’ Mark Robinson netted a consolation strike.

Eagles’ head coach Gerard Jones said: “I’m pleased but for the lads more than for myself. It has been a long time coming because we have deserved to win most of the games we have played – the four draws we had and even the last two defeats by the odd goal.

“It was an amazing comeback because not many teams do that from 2-0 down and win 4-3.”

Thackley came out on top in the Leeds versus Bradford derby in the Premier Division with two goals in the first half at Garforth Town.

The Dennyboys deserved their fifth win from their last six league games for that first-half performance. The home side came into the game more after the break without really threatening Ed Hall’s goal.

Thackley dominated in the first half and their reward came just before the half-hour mark. They forced a corner and Damian Hopkins headed them into the lead.

Ten minutes later Doug Stevenson chipped the home keeper inside a packed area to add the Dennyboys' second.

In the same division, Liversedge slipped to a narrow defeat at Nostell MW. The home side nicked all three points from the battle of the strugglers thanks to Tony Doran’s penalty 11 minutes from time.

Brighouse Town suffered defeat by the same 1-0 scoreline in the Evo-Stik First Division North when Burscough took all three points away from the Dual Seal Stadium.

The visitors’ Jordan Williams scored the only goal of the game as early as the 19th minute.
