Ossett Town 1 Farsley 2

FARSLEY edged a tight West Yorkshire derby in the Evo-Stik First Division North but the game was overshadowed by a bad injury to Ossett Town keeper Brad Dixon in the second half.

With the game poised at 1-1, Jones went down under a challenge, the Farsley players continued and the ball was put into the net but the referee had stopped play due to the head injury.

There was a long stoppage while Dixon was treated but the keeper was unable to continue and Rowan Binns donned the gloves for the remainder of the game.

Ross Daly had an early chance for Neil Parsley’s side but his effort was over the target. The home side’s first chance, from Bradford City loanee Joe Brennan, brought a good save out of Tom Taylor.

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute and it was the visitors who went in front, Aiden Savory planting a header into the top corner after being left unmarked. Ossett hit back on the stroke of half-time through right back Darol Lucas.

Farsley were on top for most of the second half but Town’s skipper Steven Jeff did go close to giving the home side the lead.

It was the visitors who got the all important second goal though when Taylor launched a long punt 12 minutes from time and Adam Priestley finished with aplomb.

Farsley remain in eighth but are now just two points outside the play-off places.
