KULWINDER Sandhu is cursing the fixture list after his Albion Sports side slipped to a home defeat Wednesday.

They lost 2-1 to Bridlington Town in their first run out since a 3-1 home win over Garforth Town two weeks earlier.

Sandhu, whose team are without a fixture on Saturday, said: “We let ourselves down with mistakes and were just a bit off with our finishing.

“We seemed to have lost that little edge, the match sharpness had gone.

“It’s understandable because it was two weeks since we had played and before that we were on a good run of form.

“We had gone four games unbeaten, three wins with just one draw but you can’t keep that momentum going if you’re not getting regular games.

“The goals we conceded were avoidable, the first was a rushed pass into the midfield to a man who was closely marked and when he failed to keep possession they raced away and scored.

“The second was an error from goalkeeper Aaron Brian. He made a block but the ball hit a post and he didn’t react as quickly as their man.

“These kinds of errors are because you’re rusty and when you are playing two games a week you don’t make them.

“If the forwards had taken their chances then we would still have probably won the game but they were just that bit off as well because of the lack of match fitness.

“There’s nothing you can do but it’s really frustrating. It’s not the league’s fault because a team dropped out at the last minute and our division has an odd number which means a team misses out every week.

“That happened to our neighbours Thackley over Christmas.

“The league is good with us because we have to have away games when Farsley are at home so everyone is doing what they can for us.

“We just have to accept that this is going to happen from time to time which is going to cost us points.”
