BRADFORD Park Avenue boss John Deacey paid tribute to his new signings for the impact they have had and to the supporters for cheering them to victory in the midweek derby at Nethermoor.

Avenue are unbeaten in three matches and have climbed out of the relegation places in the Vanarama Conference North with the three points they earned against Guiseley.

The club laid on free transport to the game and the atmosphere was electric.

Deacey said: “The support for the team at Guiseley was absolutely tremendous. They never shut up from the first whistle to last and because we’d won they didn’t stop then either.

“The players appreciate it and it does make a difference and hopefully we gave them what they wanted to see. Not just the win but in the manner of the performance.

“I hope it keeps them happy for a while, beating the local rivals, but for us – we have to move on.

“A win is nice but its only three points. Getting out of the bottom three is a lift and we have games in hand, but there is a long way to go.”

New players were brought in during Avenue’s long weather lay off. Alex Pursehouse, Craig King and Luke Dean have made a difference.

Deacey said: “Alex and Craig have been good since day one but they were superb on Tuesday and Luke is like a new player.

“They all settled in very quickly and got used to the other players, their surroundings and the way we like to play.

“Luke has come on in leaps and bounds and really looks like he’s enjoying his football again. He’s a local lad so that’s even better because he wants to do well for the club, not just individually.

“We’ve got quite a few Bradford lads now, Luke, Simon Ainge, Joe Colbeck and Paul Walker and that’s good for the club and good for the fans because they all identify with each other.”
