FEARNVILLE Primary had a special guest in their school assembly.

The Bradford school were visited by Yorkshire County Cricket Club squad member James Wainman, who brought along the LV= County Championship trophy that the Tykes won last season.

Pace bowler James, who took 3-51 and scored 33 against Sri Lanka A in a one-day match in July, also talked about life as a professional sportsman, and answered questions (which are linked to the school's personal, social and health education targets), posed for photographs and signed autographs.

Year Four then presented the 22-year-old with a hand-made papier mâché county badge and some poems they had written about cricket.

The Harrogate-born player also explained that to represent Yorkshire he had had to train hard, work as a team member, listen carefully to his coaches and never give up.

The pupils especially loved seeing the trophy and having the chance to touch it.
