JAMES Lund once again stole the limelight when City of Bradford's potential national squad members took part in their first long-course meeting of the season.
The 15-year-old showed his versatility in more ways than one by winning the 1500 metres freestyle, gaining a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke and coming fourth in the 50m backstroke in 33.84sec at the City of Sunderland New Year Meet.
Francesca Woodman earned six top-ten finishes in butterfly, freestyle and backstroke events, while Azura Cairns Poole earned top-ten placings in the 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m and 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Sam Naylor had six top-tens in freestyle and backstroke events, his best finish being fourth in the 200m freestyle.
Fellow 14-year-old Ellen Winters also acquitted herself admirably with fourth place in the 50m breaststroke, sixth in the 200m backstroke, seventh in the 50m backstroke and tenth in the 50m freestyle.
The meeting gave the swimmers, who train under the guidance of Bradford Council's leisure services senior coach Andy Pearce, valuable experience in the transition between short-course and long-course swimming.
