STORY times with Santa and stalls selling unique, sumptuous and affordable gifts – against a backdrop of soft harmonies and show-stopping live performances – will be key ingredients for this year’s Christmas at STEAM this weekend.

Live sounds of Christmas will fill the rail museum as visitors listen to the Kentwood Show Choir, Swindon Male Voice Choir, Wiltshire Saxophone Choir, Swindon Pegasus Brass and the Merribels in the Great Western Hall.

Carolyn Lovett, events manager at STEAM, said: “Christmas at STEAM offers visitors the chance to relax and enjoy a whole range of live festive performances by wonderful musicians. And of course there’s the option of browsing our luxury market stalls too. We have over 60 Christmas stalls displayed throughout the museum – from local artisan cider, designer jewellery and stained glass to soft furnishings, babywear, teddy and doll clothes, personalised LEGO bricks and much, much more.”

Santa will share Christmas stories with children.

“We’re sure young children will love to listen to a traditional Christmas story with Santa,” said Carolyn.

Santa’s readings need to be booked. Bookings can be made on the day at STEAM reception. There is also an opportunity to book an early Santa session on 01793 466637.

Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children up to16, with under-threes free of charge. Doors open from 10am to 5pm.
