BRADFORD duo Adil Rashid and Moin Ashraf are two of ten players to sign new contracts with Yorkshire.

Rashid, currently in Sri Lanka with the England Performance Programme squad, has signed a two-year extension through until the end of 2016, while fast bowler Ashraf has committed to the club until the end of 2015.

Rashid is one of three LV= County Championship winners to sign on for two more years at Headingley, with England batsman Joe Root and wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd the others.

"It is important to keep the squad together as much as we possibly can," said director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

"We have had some success over the last few years but from our point of view, it is only the start. We want to be successful over a period of time. To get the core of the squad signed up for at least the next 12 months is very important.

"It is fair to say that Moin has had a couple of disappointing years.

"He has been working hard in the close season on his overall fitness and a winter in Australia will do him good. He just needs to be training and playing as much as he can.

"He hasn't had regular cricket because of injuries and various other things. It is an important season for him and I want him challenging to be amongst our senior squad.

"He has shown in previous seasons that he can perform at the highest level and he needs to find a way of recapturing that form."

Like Ashraf, left-arm seamer James Wainman has penned a one-year contract until the end of 2015.

Teenage trio Karl Carver, the left-arm spinner who made his Championship debut last summer, Matthew Fisher and Josh Shaw (both England under-19 seamers) have signed their maiden professional contracts, of two years in length.

Batsman Eliot Callis and all-rounder Ryan Gibson have both signed one-year senior Academy deals.

Moxon, meanwhile, is hoping to have some news on the club's overseas plans for 2015 shortly.

Yesterday's planned release of the 2015 county fixtures was postponed in light of the death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes.
