THERE is little separating the top half of Division Three in the Bradford Table Tennis League.

Hermits I took over the leadership following their derby victory against third-placed Hermits H.

Evergreen Norman Swift was in fine form, dropping only one game in collecting three singles wins, with Roger Swithenbank adding a brace and Geoff Parkes one as Hermits I triumphed 7-3 to leapfrog Pudsey B.

Unity E are seventh, which will be good enough for a top-half place when the midway split takes place.

The Unity E team have only lost twice so far but had to come from behind to grab a draw at Fastbats E, who are only six points adrift.

Fastbats led 5-2 as talented teenager Waqas Ahmad won his three singles and Owen Li added two.

But Unity finished strongly as Michael Walker won two and Hughie Chambers and Nick Dodds one each, with Walker and Chambers then easily winning the doubles for a share of the points.

In the Yorkshire Veterans League, Bradford Thirds had a fine win at Dewsbury Seconds as Tony McGowan maintained his unbeaten record this season with a treble.

Alan Moulden and Chris Town took one win each, before McGowan and Moulden added the doubles for a 6-4 success.
