AN EXECUTIVE committee will continue to run the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League.

A proposed rule change by Cross Roads & Daisy Hill to replace them with a management committee, thereby going back to the system that existed up until last year, was defeated 32-12 during the league's annual meeting at Clayton Rugby League Club.

After a fractious summer and autumn, league secretary Taj Butt hopes that the name-calling would now come to an end.

League chairman Nick Spachis added: "I know the executive committee has not been everybody's cup of tea but you cannot dispute the effort that we are putting in on behalf of the league.

"It has been difficult because of the wrangling but we are all grown up and should move on together."

Heaton's withdrawal from the league was confirmed, while Bowling Baptists B were added and VVS Laxman, Yorkshire Friends, TABS and Parkside were confirmed as full league members.

Baptists B will therefore play in Group D alongside Yorkshire LPS B, who were relegated from Group C.

TABS and Cambing B were promoted from Group D, while Great Horton Meths A have been spared relegation from Group C and will face Allerton, who were relegated from Group B.

Mandhata and Cross Roads & Daisy Hill were promoted from Group C to B – which includes Yorkshire LPS A, who were demoted from the top flight.

Omars and VVS Laxman were promoted from Group B and Bradford Gymkhana A have been spared relegation from Group A because of Heaton's withdrawal.

The league will involve 38 teams next season but, because the league made a loss of £1,558 in 2014, they are seeking both overall sponsorship and backing for the Sir James Roberts Cup and H Broadbent Trophy.

League treasurer Kay Hemingway said: "At the current level of losses, we will only have another three years to run."

The Play Cricket site, which was trialled this season, will be brought in permanently next season, while it was also agreed to put ID photos of players on the website.

Match reports must be completed and confirmed by 9pm on Tuesday by the hosts (Wednesday for cup matches) and be checked and confirmed by the away team within 24 hours.

West Bowling's proposal to move start times forward 30 minutes to 1.30pm only received three votes, while a disciplinary officer has been added to the list of league officials.
