QUEST Taekwondo members from Baildon picked up two medals in the British National Championships.

Eleven-year-old Rebecca Weir, a 1st Dan Black Belt who has been with the club since she was six, won a silver medal after two excellent victories over taller opponents.

Jacob Barnett, 18, who is a student at Leeds Beckett University, defeated three rivals at -68kg level to claim a bronze, onloy going down in the semi-finals to a full-time opponent who had just returned from China with a Youth Olympic bronze medal.

These weren't the club's only medals, however, as they also collected a gold, four silvers and five bronzes from the 18 athletes competing to finish as the tenth best club overall.

Quest coach Master Mike McKenzie: “The team gave fantastic performances. The Championships are considered the key UK event of the year for athletes, with the best competitors from clubs throughout the country attending. Our team is going from strength to strength and we are achieving great results."
