WEST Bowling are out of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup after a 34-12 defeat at Upton, although the second-round scoreline was lopsided.

Bowling fell behind to an early converted try before scrum half Ben Heald slid through a hole in the hosts' line and added the conversion himself to level matters at 6-6.

Upton posted a controversial try when the referee missed a clear strip-out, which gave them the momentum to gain the upper hand and establish a 22-6 interval lead.

But West's prop forward Chris Anderson forced his way over from a tap penalty and Heald added the extras to put the Bradford side back in contention shortly after the restart, when the hosts began to show signs of fatigue.

Bowling second-row forward Jack Milburn was a constant threat, ably supported by fellow packman Richard Lumb and Dan Gregory.

However, poor finishing cost them dear as Upton gained their second wind to capitalise on mistakes.

Loose forward Joe Walker was the Queensbury hero when he posted his second and match-winning try with the last play of the game at Bentley Good Companions in the Pennine League.

Queensbury won 26-24 to register their second successive Championship Division victory after leading 16-12 at the break.

Wingman Andy Walker, centre Jason Gelder (2) and three conversions from Scott Swann completed the tally.

Victoria Rangers went down 17-4 at Cutsyke Raiders in Division One.

Understrength Vics suffered a huge blow when they lost hooker Isaac Brown with a calf injury early doors and changed ends 16-0 down.

Yet they proved their mettle in the second stanza with a pugnacious display that produced the only touchdown of the half from Bob Brown.

Wibsey Warriors could only muster two tries from Lewis Barrett and Danny Conroy, plus a Steve Redman conversion, in their 34-10 Division Two defeat at Underbank Rangers.

West Bowling A suffered a similar fate at home to Division Four rivals Emley Moor. Mark Dove and Luke Whitaker made the chalk in the 24-10 setback.

Victoria Rangers A ran riot with a 68-6 home win against Cowling Harlequins in Division Six West.

Mike Cunliffe (2), Jamie Kerr (2), Mike Crowley (2), Ray Greenwood, Ryan Khan, Mark Christy, Johnny Fawthrop, Jay Dalladay and Sam Thornton led the procession to the chalk, with Hayden Sugden adding ten conversions.
