Baildon 13 Old Otliensians 20

BAILDON were made to pay dearly for two errors which resulted in Otliensians scoring two breakaway tries.

The visitors took an early lead with a penalty goal but Baildon hit back and Phil Wilson was unlucky not to score after a powerful burst up the right wing.

Baildon looked to be setting up a scoring position when they worked their way into a promising position before turning over possession from a ruck which led to Otliensians scoring a breakaway try from their own 22. The conversion extended their lead to 10-0.

Determined, Baildon secured the ball from their kick off and again worked through the phases to set up an attacking position.

Once again turnover ball resulted in a try at the opposite end of the field.

Baildon made a bright start to the second half and were rewarded with two successful penalties from Oli Waddington.

More Baildon errors proved costly as Otliensians took advantage to score their third try of the game.

Baildon peppered the defensive line with solid runs but time was against them. It wasn't until the last play of the game, where centre Matthew Withers used his bulk to bulldoze his way over the line, that the Jenny Laners were able to turn effort into points.

Waddington was able to make a simple conversion, leaving the home team with a well-earned bonus point.
