SSE Yorkshire Division Three

Castleford 40

Baildon 7

AFTER soaking up strong Castleford pressure in the opening 20 minutes, when Baildon showed good communication and excellent cover in only conceding a penalty, the visitors suffered a torrid second quarter.

The hosts got the better of them through the centre and on the wings to add three tries, two of which was converted, and a penalty.

Baildon improved after the break and made Castleford pay for giving away a penalty near the visitors' 22.

The Jenny Laners found a good touch and, in an effective line-out move, drove the home pack back 15 yards for skipper Will Craven to score his first try for the club, fly half Ollie Waddington adding the difficult conversion.

However, this setback only spurred Castleford on and, after denying Baildon ball, they profited when the visitors did get possession as they either knocked-on or spilled passes.

The tiring visitors conceded two late tries and another penalty but the consolation is that they have already played four of the current top six.
