A YOUNG 15-man Dewsbury Celtic side proved no match for West Bowling as the Bradford side progressed comfortably into round two of the BARLA Yorkshire Cup with a convincing 64-8 victory.

Bowling crossed the whitewash as early as the second minute through hooker Joe Lumb and built up an insurmountable half time lead of 30-4 thanks to further tries from full back Kyle Moore and loose forward Richard Lumb.

Scrum half Ben Heald was on target with three conversions and then helped himself to a touchdown when he supported a Max Trueman break to race 30 metres to the line. Heald once again added the extras.

Celtic hit back briefly when winger Tom Tattersfield crossed out wide for an unconverted try. However, it was Bowling who finished the half the stronger as Adam Reardon made a fine break to send Trueman over under the sticks. Heald stepped up again to make it four from four.

The second half began very much as the first, with Bowling taking little time to once again demonstrate their superior firepower.

Winger Karl Robinson crossed just two minutes after the restart and he was quickly followed by substitute forward Gavin Wilkinson. Heald duly added two more conversions to his increasing tally.

On 57 minutes Heald collected his brace and forwards Jason Marshall and Jack Milburn also got in on the act to make it 54-4.

Celtic stand-off Richard Tillotson temporarily halted the Bowling onslaught with his try but it wasn't long before normal service was resumed when Richard Lumb dived over.

Second row Oliver Bartle rounded off a fine afternoon for Bowling when he completed the rout, allowing Heald to secure his final conversion.

Joe Lumb collected the man of the match award for his hard-working display and he was ably supported on the day by Ash Hutchinson and the lively Heald.
