Bradford Park Avenue 0 Oxford City 5

Bradford Park Avenue slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat as visitors Oxford rattled in five goals to move up to third place in Vanarama Conference North.

Oxford, who visit Guiseley on Saturday, broke the deadlock inside the first ten minutes when Ander Del Alamo's corner was headed home by Josetxo Lapoujade.

Avenue went close to equalising but both Brad Barraclough and skipper Nathan Hotte put their efforts wide.

The referee pulled up with an injury and the game was held up while he received treatment.

When he was unable to continue a hunt was launched for a stand-in assistant referee with the necessary qualifications. Once one was found the senior assistant took over in the middle.

Oxford should have doubled their lead before the break after being awarded a penalty but Adi Yussuf put the spot kick wide.

City brought Tom Winters off the bench and the substitute put the game beyond Avenue.

Winters netted a 30-yard strike on the hour and two minutes later converted a Darren Pond cross.

Fellow substitute Felipe Barcelos made it four when he tucked in after John Lamb could only parry a Javi Rodrequez shot and Lewis Wilson, also on from the bench, wrapped up the scoring in last minute.

Avenue face a tough tie in the FA Cup second qualifying round a week on Saturday after drawing league leaders AFC Fylde at home.

Neighbours Guiseley will be away at Droylsden who are Evo-Stik Division One counterparts of Farsley who travel to Gainsborough Trinity.

All three of the area’s sides are in action in Tuesday’s Toolstation Northern Counties East Premier Division programme. Thackley host Nostell MW, Albion Sports make the short trip to Garforth Town while Liversedge travel to Armthorpe Welfare.
