GRANGEFIELD Old Boys have made it two wins from as many games in the Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division.

They defeated slightly weakened hosts Leeds Medics & Dentists 1-0 thanks to midfielder James Kemp's goal in the 72nd minute.

Stanningley Old Boys gained their first point with a 2-2 draw at still unbeaten Farsley Celtic Juniors, James Allen being involved in both levellers for the visitors, his free-kick being headed into his own net by a Farsley defender and his superb strike from the edge of the area capping an excellent move.

Luke Gordon's cracking drive after 20 minutes and an excellent left-footed free-kick by Craig Farrand from the edge of the area had put Juniors in front.

Calverley United's improved start in the Championship Division continued when they drew 1-1 at Thornesians, only the home keeper preventing them from winning.

However, it took a controversial free-kick decision for United to score, Tom Westerman netting from the edge of the box.

Old Batelians have climbed to third but had to come from behind to defeat visitors Beeston St Anthonys, thanks to a Dave Bordman penalty and a 25-yard exocet by Nick Goodall.

Gildersome Spurs Old Boys Reserves took advantage of a weakened Leeds Medics & Dentists Thirds, defeating them 9-0, Jason Hardcastle (4), Connor Firth (2), Joshua Townend, Ash Brooks and JamesWilby netting to allay fears that Division One might be too tough.

However, the same cannot be said yet about Grangefield Old Boys Reserves, who lost again – 2-0 to Garforth Rangers.

A young St Bede's Reserves team made their seasonal bow and showed some glimpses of promise in a 7-0 home defeat to early Division Two leaders Morley Town Reserves.
