BILLY Clarke has no complaints about City’s full-throttle start to the season.

The Bantams have just enjoyed their first free midweek after a hectic run of nine games in the opening month.

It was a timely break to allow Phil Parkinson’s squad to dissect the Yeovil defeat which has knocked some of the gloss off a solid run of results.

City are straight back into it with trips to MK Dons over the next two Tuesdays – but Clarke is happy for the midweek games to keep on coming.

The striker said: “There’s probably no way round it but I prefer to be busier now.

“You get to stages in December and January when there’s a Tuesday game and you’re thinking ‘why didn’t we play these earlier?’

“Last season I didn’t have a Tuesday game apart from one in the Capital One Cup until September and the season started the first week of August.

“You’d rather play more now when the weather and pitch is nice than on a horrible January night when the game might get called off anyway.”

Clarke was as bemused as the rest by last week’s flat offering at Valley Parade but he does not expect any hangover when City host Swindon this afternoon.

He added: “One result and performance doesn’t make you a bad team. We’re fifth in the league and still in the cup so we’ve had a really good start.

“There are going to be times in the season when we have a difficult game. The key is how you react to that and I’m sure we’ll have another good performance from the lads.

“Everybody was disappointed after last Saturday. This week has been a chance to unwind mentally and reflect on what’s happened.

“After a game like that, you want to be playing again as soon as possible to try and get it out the system.

“But the manager has had time to work on things and sit us down to show us what we did wrong. It’s good to be back at home again now and I know we’ll do better.”
