Heckmondwike Cycle Speedway Club's star rider Pawel Idziorek returned to Poland to take part in the Euro Series, scoring well against strong competition in the qualifying stage to score 15 points.

This took him through to the elimination rounds, where he notched 13 points, but his 11 in the semi-final was not enough for him to progress.

Idziorek will race in his homeland for the next couple of weeks, and the rest of the Heckmondwike team travelled to Edinburgh for a Northern League fixture, which featured soem great racing, the hosts winning 95-52. Edinburgh also won the Junior League match 37-35. 

Heckmondwike scores - Northern League: A Watson 15, D Kent 9, I Watson 9, W Naylor 7, J Naylor 6, T Whitwam 6. Junior League: Tom Whitwam 16, Will Naylor 10, Bella Naylor 9.

Sister and brother Laura and Adam Watson where called up for the British Championships at Bury and Sheffield, with Adam taking third overall in the under-16s and Laura sixth in the women's.

Heckmondwike host Sheffield on Sunday at Firth Park (noon).
