WE DROVE our one-day cup quarter-final against Durham for 70 or 80 per cent of the time – but my dismissal and Jonny Bairstow getting out quickly afterwards let them back into a game we ended up losing.

We are really disappointed, but we can't afford to dwell on it too much with the Championship to concentrate on. I'm confident it won't affect us in that form of the game.

Yes, it's difficult to take, especially after playing such good one-day cricket all year really. But the lads are focused. We can use this as a bit of inspiration to move on and keep playing good red-ball cricket for the rest of the season.

We're competing and are there or thereabouts in limited-overs cricket, whether it's one-day or Twenty20.

Over the coming years, I'm confident we'll be in this position again and we'll be talking about being at Finals Day and being in one-day semi-finals. Unfortunately, sometimes this is just how it goes.

As long as we find a formula that works in limited-overs cricket and the roles are clear within the team, we'll be okay.

The Roses game, which started on Sunday, promises to be a good one. It does have a bit of a different feel playing against Lancashire but we've just got to stay focused. We need to keep putting pressure on everybody around us.

We lose Kane Williamson after this match, so to have the England boys around for the last two fixtures would be great. We're a formidable side even without them, so putting them back in turns us into a serious team.

Kane's hitting the ball really well at the moment. He didn't get any in the one-day game but I'm sure he won't let us down, whether it be in the first or second innings. Hopefully if he gets in, he can go big for us and go out with a bang.

Unfortunately, Gary Ballance finds himself out of England's one-day team at the moment, although I see him playing in all forms of the international game.

He's good enough and has the stats to back it up. He's one of the best players in the country.

The great thing is that he's able to adapt as a batsman. We haven't seen it as much from him at international level as we have at Yorkshire, but in his hundred for us in the Championship at Lord's he just kept slog sweeping it for six.

He's certainly got it in his locker, which I'm sure he'll show on the international stage not too far ahead.
