WITH just three sets of fixtures to be played, the battle for the Division A title could have taken a decisive turn following the top-two clash between Halifax Direct and New Wortley.

Batting first, home side Direct were bowled out for just 140 with Farhan Ali hitting 62. In reply, visitors Wortley rattled of their target (141-1) to secure a nine-wicket win, with Safiullah Khan hitting an unbeaten 83 and Saeed Mirza also finishing unbeaten on 53 to take the North Leedsside above Direct with a nine-point lead.

Third-placed Leeds Sikh (192-8, Ajay Kamboj 71) enjoyed a 41-run success at Cookridge,who were dismissed for 151.

Relegation-threatened Adel (136) surprised fourth-placed Shipley Providence (79) with a 57-run win.

At Tong Village, home side Farnley Hill (198-7, Gethin Clarke 58) secured a 21-run win over Savile Stars (177), despite the best efforts of Owais Patel (55) and Suleman Bhana (51).

Basement side Baildon (105-9) have one foot through the relegation trapdoor after Pudsey Congs (107-3) completed a seven-wicket win.

Division B leaders Bradford Moor (182, Naheem Akhtar 78) recorded a 105-run win at Farsley, who were put out for just 79.

Second-placed Thornbury (102-5 Jamil Ahmed 5-41) kept up their distant challenge to the leaders with a five-wicket win over neighbours Undercliffe (101).

In Division C, with leaders Crompark having a day off, Morley took over at the top despite being involved in a low-scoring affair with visitors Baildon B.

Batting first, Morley managed just 74 (Barry Foster 3-24, Nick Lawson 3-24) but this modest total was 20 runs too many for Baildon, who succumbed to just 54 (Jaganjumar Manoharan 5-9) in reply.
