4:54pm

City rounded off a memorable week with victory at Rochdale this afternoon.

Second-half goals from Dale old boy Jason Kennedy and James Hanson – his fifth so far – ensured Phil Parkinson’s side followed up the Leeds win with three battling points.

City were backed by their usual huge following at Rochdale but there was an air of “after the Lord Mayor’s show” to the first half.

Dale looked quicker to the ball and more energetic in the opening exchanges, particularly when they broke in numbers. They went very close early on through Matt Done’s shot into the side-netting.

But City had the best chance of the half when Hanson should have buried a cross from Filipe Morais, one of three changes from the Capital One Cup.

Billy Clarke came on for Morais at the break and City were much brighter following his arrival.

The Irishman cut inside for a low drive at Logan before the visitors took the lead on the hour.

Sheehan picked out James Hanson unmarked in the box and his knock-down was drilled home by Kennedy.

And with Dale sinking, City struck again six minutes later as Hanson buried Alan Sheehan’s corner.

City were in control by this point and there were no late scares on the way to a second away win  on the bounce.

4:54pm

Nigel Miller blows the whistle and City have another three points in the bag

4:50pm

Roles reversed and it's Bennett in the book this time for a foul on the City sub

4:49pm

Dolan booked for tug on Bennett. Four added minutes to play

4:45pm

City fans dust off the Gary Jones song and follow it up with another about Jason Kennedy ..

4:40pm

Billy, Billy Knott na na na is replaced by Dolan. Cue his booming fan club...

4:40pm

Andrew then does exactly the same. Dale in danger of running out off balls ...

4:38pm

Fenelon tries a spectacular volley - which flies spectacularly over the stand

4:35pm

City doing a good job in boxing Dale into their own half

4:34pm

Board suitably corrected and Mclean replaces Bennett

4:33pm

Mclean waiting to come on for number 21.... City don't have a 21!

4:33pm

Bennett pulled up for a questionable foul which has Parkinson arguing vehemently with the assistant

4:32pm

Mclean getting ready to come on.

4:32pm

Feel sorry for the Rochdale kid with the flag...

— Keith Wildman (@KeithWildman) August 30, 2014

4:31pm

And Keith Hill makes his final sub as Andrew replaces Vincenti

4:30pm

Henderson hits free-kick over the City wall but it bounces wide

4:29pm

Meredith gives cheap free-kick away five yards outside his own box. Not the best thing to do

4:29pm

Away fans in good voice with City in control. Need to see this one through now

4:25pm

Double sub for Dale including new boy Fenelon. Donnelly also on for Rafferty and Done

4:25pm

... and there it is as Hanson heads home from a Sheehan corner!

4:24pm

City on top now and need to keep this going. A second goal is well within their grasp

4:21pm

Rafferty in the book for catching Knott as he knocked the ball round the corner

4:20pm

Sheehan's cross found Hanson completely unmarked. He nodded it down at Kennedy and the ball dropped nicely for the midfielder to drill home

4:19pm

1-0 City and it's Jason Kennedy against his old club!

4:17pm

Darby suddenly pops up in the Rochdale box. Unfortunately the ball doesn't drop right for him

4:15pm

Rhys Bennett header booted away by Sheehan in front of the City goal

4:14pm

Clarke has livened City up. He drifts insides away from Hery and Tom Kennedy and tests Logan with a low drive

4:13pm

Pickford is first to the punch from Henderson cross as Done applies the pressure

4:13pm

I know I'm a fine one to talk about hair but Tom Kennedy has a touch of the Princess Leia's going on...

4:12pm

Thumping header from way out by Rhys Bennett but Pickford clutches safely

4:10pm

Good ball in from Sheehan and Rochdale do well to defend it under their bar

4:10pm

Bennett pressure earns City only their second corner

4:09pm

Knott spins away from his marker Allen but he skews the shot from 25 yards

4:08pm

Managers having a good-natured disagreement over a foul on Clarke. No throat-holding so far ...

4:06pm

City looking a bit brighter already in opening minutes

4:04pm

Hanson tries an early shot but it cannons away off Eastham

4:04pm

Bennett taps the ball to Hanson and we're back underway

4:02pm

City make a change - Clarke on for Morais

4:01pm

... so do the directors. Mark Lawn, minus his tiger onesie, stops to retie his claret and amber scarf

4:01pm

Teams reappear for the second half

4:00pm

@officialbantams first away game for the small one today ! COME ON CITY !!! #bcafc #prouddaddymoment pic.twitter.com/s7sMcuIbwV

3:55pm

#bcafc below par. Moraisnon-existent. Look prone to counter. Knott oozes class. Would like to see Clarke early on. #rafc support appalling.

— Ato(@Holden_Tight) August 30, 2014

3:54pm

It's a poor do when a Rochdale lad with a flag is more entertaining than the football game. #bcafc

— Bradford City Gaz(@BCGaz) August 30, 2014

3:47pm

And there goes the whistle

3:47pm

... which Liddle deals with

3:46pm

Just time for Rochdale to win another corner

3:46pm

Just the one added minute - not the usual nine!

3:45pm

Then Kennedy gives ball away sloppily in his own box but Pickford punches away under real pressure at back post..

3:45pm

City fashion half-chance for Kennedy but ball won't drop low enough for midfielder to be able to get over his shot

3:43pm

Not enough threat from City's front two so far - although Hanson should have scored that header earlier

3:37pm

Kennedy with important clearing header to prevent Vincenti getting on end of another angled cross from Rafferty

3:34pm

Contest starting to liven up now.

3:33pm

Surging run from Hery and Vincenti curls over the City bar. Parkinson annoyed that play wasn't stopped with Hanson on the ground

3:32pm

Sheehan takes it and Kennedy connects with a waist-high volley which Logan dives to save on his line...

3:31pm

... to compound their annoyance, City are awarded a corner when Dale let ball trickle ouut

3:31pm

The Rochdale natives have had enough of the assistant as the flag again goes up for an offside...

3:30pm

Big chance for Hanson as Morais puts cross right on the button. But the  big man fails to get the right connection on his header and it bounces past far post

3:28pm

Won't be so happy at the room that Vincenti found to have a pop from distance - but it was harmless and wide

3:27pm

Phil Parkinson looks happier, clapping fiercely

3:21pm

Rochdale have the ball in the net through Done but the assistant's flag was already up for offside ...

3:20pm

Rochdale break well from City throw deep in their half. Henderson leads counter but Knott tracks him all the way to nick the ball clear

3:19pm

Good header from Sheehan under pressure in his own goal-mouth. Rochdale looking the sharper team so far

3:16pm

Right back Rafferty finding plenty of space to get forward for Rochdale. Drags effort wide from 20 yards

3:14pm

Shouts of "shoot" whenever Knott gets the ball within a certain range

3:13pm

Mason Bennett takes the ball well into home territory and focus switches to other end

3:13pm

Liddle meets it with a meaty header and City can break...

3:13pm

Rafferty lobs inviting cross to far post where Darby sensibly nods behind for another Dale corner

3:11pm

City fans break out into a song detailing what they think of the team that were beaten at Valley Parade on Wednesday... sure it won't be the last time you hear that today!

3:09pm

First sight of City going forward. Hanson flicks on McArdle long ball and Bennett and Kennedy work an opening for the loan striker to thrash over the bar from an angle.

3:08pm

Heavy touch from Henderson knocks ball out of play. Stand down....

3:07pm

Left-foot curler from  Tom Kennedy clips top of wall. Rochdale corner number two coming up

3:07pm

More danger for City as Dale win a free-kick 25 yards out...

3:06pm

Told you that stand would get busy... #bcafc pic.twitter.com/yBbju8R3mE

— Simon Parker (@ParkerTandA) August 30, 2014

3:06pm

Rochdale go close as Done shot from edge of area takes flick of Meredith and hits side-netting.

3:03pm

Meredith puts his foot through Rhys Bennett's low cross to welly away from danger.

3:01pm

And City, in white and claret, get us going ....

2:12pm

Striker Shamir Fenelon is on the Rochdale bench after joining from Brighton on loan yesterday.

Dale boss Keith Hill unsurprisingly names an unchanged side for the third straight game after winning 5-2 at Crewe and the draw against Bristol City.

ROCHDALE: Logan, Rafferty, Eastham, Tanser, T Kennedy, Vincenti, Allen, Hery, R Bennett, Done, Henderson. Subs: Andrew, Dawson, Donnelly, Rose, Camps, Fenelon, Diba Musangu.

2:00pm

City make three changes after Wednesday's glory night.

Loanees Jordan Pickford and Mason Bennett both return in place of Ben Williams and Aaron Mclean.

Billy Clarke, who made a fine return from injury against Leeds, also drops back to the bench. So it's a fourth start for Filipe Morais.

With Rochdale expected to present an energetic challenge, City are obviously wary of playing Clarke again so soon after his hamstring problem. But he is on the bench.

CITY: Pickford, Darby, McArdle, Sheehan, Meredith, Knott, J Kennedy, Liddle, Morais, M Bennett, Hanson. Subs: Dolan, Mclean, Clarke, Yeates, Routis, McBurnie, Williams.

1:46pm

Expect that stand to get a tad busy before long .... #bcafc pic.twitter.com/ky87Wz2qZ0

1:46pm

Good afternoon and welcome from Spotland for City's trip to Rochdale - their nearest away trip of the season.

City always bring a load of away fans - between 2,000 and 3,000 are predicted to fill one side of the ground later!

Must be the terms of the loan deal.

I hope it doesn't backfire on PP because Williams did OK on Wednsday.

Because he needs to be brought along slowly after missing pre season. It would be too much for his current level of fitness for him to start today after playing on Wednesday night. I imagine he'll come on towards the end as their defenders begin to tire.

Well done to Jason Kennedy- rapidly turning into a 'must pick' first team regular ( from last season's 'poor signing' rating makes this quite a transformation!)

Well done City for clinching today's 3 pts. After Wednesday nights 'highs' it would have been all too easy to come a cropper today!! The performance v P'boro is already beginning to fade!!!

I feared an anti climax after Wednesday's performance - Rochdale in front of a crowd about a quarter of the size of the Cup Tie, with only two days recovery time.

Well done, again, to all concerned.

If I criticised PP's recruitment last season, I must compliment him on this season's signings. What an important signing, Alan Sheehan has turned out to be. Equally at home at Centre Back as at Left Back and such a creative talent , with a hand in both goals today. He's certainly cushioned the blow of losing Davies.

I don't like to have a nobble at McLean because everyone seems to do so and I always try to see the bright side with him and try to defend him but that performance I saw today I wasn't impressed at all, he didn't have a great game fair enough but he doesn't run and challenge for the ball and if it doesn't go to his feet 90% of the time he's not interested. Parkinson knew this and you could see him have a huge go at him and McLean just turned away like F off. The guy has an attitude problem and is lazy. I don't know if he's 100% fit or what but I looks like there conflict there or soon will be.

I didn't go to Rochdale, but have seen nothing from McLean that suggests he's going to contribute anything positive to the team. I've detected the same attitude problem that you refer to.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't have the guy in the squad. I'd far rather have McBurnie. Things certainly pepped up when he came on against Leeds .

It's the only problem PP needs to address, in an otherwise bright start start to the season. He looks a very expensive misfit

For Gods sake, will someone please lock the Lynfield Mount computer room door and get the inmates back to their rooms. The stick McLean's getting is embarrassing. Fine win today.
I have heard that he thinks he is too good for this league. But it wasn't like he shone against Leeds!

I agree it's very embarrassing to have supporters who are only happy when attacking one of our own. Maybe they would be better off supporting that other club on other side of the hill. They showed on Wednesday jow they like to attack their own.
As for not running when he came on yesterday that is bull. He chased plenty down one right into the corner flag throwing himself into it trying to keep the ball alive. When McLean came on the pitch yesterday we were two up and in total control. We didn't try to score with any conviction and was very professional at keeping the ball and making sure the back door was closed. McLean never once gave the ball away, playing his part and making sure dale were not given a glimmer of a chance.
Again another great team performance but again some people not happy unless putting the boot into one of our own players. This is now really embarrassing

He is getting stick but a lot of it is justified he often shows a lack of effort although he did try against Leeds this is not now usually the case so who can blame posters for giving him some stick. Problem is he would be very hard to move on

In McLeans defence he wasn't our worst man on the pitch. Morais took that, didn't have a good game and didn't produce anything and just looked overall hence why he was subbed at half time. Wonder why Yeates keeps being benched, all the times he's played this year he's been pretty decent.

Must be the terms of the loan deal.

I hope it doesn't backfire on PP because Williams did OK on Wednsday.
By the same token what as Pickford done to warrant dropping?

You would think by now that some would have realised that it is better to reserve opinions? Clearly not.

It has taken almost to prove that the 2013-4 recruitment campaign was not the complete disaster that it was made out to be.

As for the supporter at Crawley, I bet that McLean's girlfriend was delighted to be sitting next to you. Talk about Ianding the jackpot.
