BAILDON are hoping that a combination of hard work, intensity and intelligent play can turn them into promotion contenders this season.

The Jenny Laners were relegated from SSE Yorkshire Division Two last season, only winning one league match and drawing another.

They start their competitive campaign today at home to Rotherham Phoenix in the first round of the Yorkshire Silver Trophy.

Back in the division where they have played for so long, Baildon have kept a core of the 2013-14 squad, plus forwards Will Craven and Tom Gray and back Joe Moore.

Baildon know that Phoenix, who finished sixth in Yorkshire Three last season, will provide an accurate litmus test for the season ahead.

Coach Adam Falkner warned the squad at training: "Turn up knowing you can beat every team in this league, or don’t turn up at all."
