SAM Wood is seeking a new club after confirming he will be leaving the Bulls at the end of the season.

The homegrown 20-year-old has endured a frustrating campaign as he is no longer eligible for the Under-19s and has found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

He last featured for the Bulls in the Magic Weekend defeat to Huddersfield but has since impressed for Dewsbury on dual-registration.

Wood, who can play as a winger or centre, spoke last month of his desire to secure a new deal under Jimmy Lowes.

Wood and his girlfriend Hannah have a young daughter, Alyssia, and he was keen to safeguard his family's future.

But Wood said today in a statement posted on Twitter: “I’m sad to have been released from my contract at the end of the season but the club's new direction is looking good and is in great hands.

“I've been involved for six years with the Bulls and I've loved it, even with the ups and downs!

“I wish everybody involved the best of luck and thank you to the fans for being great with me!

“I don't have a club sorted as of yet but hopefully something will come my way soon!

“Thanks again everyone at Bradford Bulls and Dewsbury Rams for the opportunity.”

Wood made a tryscoring first-team debut in a Challenge Cup win at Rochdale last season and went on to make three appearances in Super League.

He has made a further five Super League appearances this season but has played all his recent rugby with Dewsbury in the Championship.
