THACKLEY will be taking on an unknown quantity at Dennyfield tomorrow but visitors Shaw Lane Aquaforce are among the clubs being tipped for promotion.

The Barnsley-based outfit only came up from Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One as runners-up last term.

But they were installed as one of the favourites to go straight up again because of their budget.

Shaw Lane were helped last term by a former Dennyboys manager and coach. Sean Regan was assistant manager last term but his work with the Football Association now sees him spending time at St Georges Park and around the country.

While the home side languish in a lowly 15th spot, averaging just one point per game, Shaw Lane are third – still with a 100 per cent record after starting with three wins from as many matches.

Liversedge are still seeking their first point of the campaign but they have a good opportunity to break their duck tomorrow as they have home advantage against the only club below them.

Nostell MW visit Clayborn below Sedge by virtue of them having played one game more.

The two clubs have no points and an identical minus-seven goal difference but Sedge have played only three games. They and Nostell are two of four clubs yet to get off the mark.

There will be a clash between two clubs struggling in Division One at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium as 18th-placed Eccleshill United host Shirebrook Town, who are just two places above them.

The Eagles have just one point from their opening three fixtures, while their visitors have banked two.

There have been few early-season problems for Silsden in the North West Counties League.

The Cobbydalers are a lofty fourth in the Premier Division but face a stern test at home against Ashton Athletic tomorrow.

Silsden rode their luck in Wednesday's derby clash with Colne but earned another three points from a 1-0 win.

They are just two points better off than Ashton, who would leapfrog their hosts with a victory.
