9:53pm

CITY are through to the third round of the Capital One Cup after the most dramatic of wins over neighbours Leeds.

Late goals from James Hanson and Billy Knott cancelled out Matt Smith's header just seconds earlier - and gave the Bantams their first derby win at Valley Parade since 1932.

It was a tremendously-spirited performance from Phil Parkinson's side against opponents who were down to ten men after the early red card for Luke Murphy.

Aaron Mclean, Jason Kennedy and Billy Clarke all had chances to turn City's pressure into goals.

But it was Smith who broke the deadlock with a header from David Norris' cross. City refused to let heads drop and Knott levelled with a 25-yard screamer.

Then Hanson completed the comeback by nodding home Gary Liddle's cross to send Valley Parade into raptures.

9:48pm

Whistle sounds - City have done it!

9:47pm

Smith gets his head on the end of it - and heads over

9:47pm

Clarke booked for kicking ball away as Leeds win free-kick

9:36pm

Blimey, what a turnaround here. Place has gone ballistic!

9:35pm

And it's now 2-1.... Liddle cross and HANSON buries it!!

9:34pm

The midfielder opens his City account with an explosive drive from 25 yards that screams into the roof of the net!

9:33pm

KNOTT 1-1. Even better response!!

9:32pm

Clarke shot tipped away by Taylor. Good response!

9:31pm

Massive test of character for City now to lift themselves...

9:20pm

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Billy Clarke

Billy Clarke skips over a challenge by Stephen Warnock

9:18pm

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Red card

Luke Murphy receives his marching orders

9:18pm

What a chance this is for Leeds lad McBurnie...

9:18pm

Mclean replaced by McBurnie, 70th minute. No surprise after struggling early on with a problem but he's certainly worked hard.

9:15pm

Clarke holds his head in his hands...

9:15pm

Clarke denied by Taylor at near post.... Meredith and Mclean combine and striker slips Clarke through but Leeds keeper stands tall to block

9:13pm

The Kop have revved up once more as play briefly stops for treatment to Warnock

9:11pm

Fool in a hoody runs out of crowd on to pitch and is quickly apprehended

9:10pm

Fourth official having a word in Parkinson's ear.

9:10pm

Ref talking to both players but cards stay in his pocket

9:10pm

McArdle not happy as Sharp catches him as both go for header. Then Parkinson gets involved with the Leeds striker

9:08pm

Deeper this time from Sheehan to pick out Mclean but the flag is up because the ball had curled out of play

9:07pm

Smith on the end of it again but it's another City corner

9:07pm

Clarke makes himself some room for a shot which is deflected behind for first corner of the second half

9:05pm

More noise coming from the away fans now tho

9:04pm

Getting bit confused by the Leeds chants. One minute it's "I want to go home"; the next "you're just a town full of Leeds fans..."

9:03pm

Hope City don't live to regret not scoring there...

8:59pm

So close again! Meredith cross for Kennedy who sweeps it wide from close range...

8:52pm

City have been back out for a good couple of minutes before Leeds reappear

8:49pm

8:37pm

And that's half-time ....

8:37pm

Sheehan has a shot on his weaker right foot but it's a tame side-foot that rolls through to Taylor

8:36pm

... again Leeds get a head to Sheehan's kick

8:36pm

Meredith, who's had a very good first half, wins one last corner before the whistle

8:35pm

Free-kick awarded to Leeds gets a loud ironic roar from Midland Road

8:34pm

Strong defending from Darby prevents Tonge getting round the back. Then Mclean bundled over by Cooper who picks up a Leeds booking

8:33pm

Four added minutes

8:32pm

Mistake from Knott and Leeds are nearly in. Pass back to McArdle falls short and Sharp nicks possession but Williams holds tight to his low cross

8:30pm

Sheehan with another decent delivery from the corner but Smith booms it away

8:29pm

Another great ball whipped in by Meredith but Warnock scrambles behind

8:29pm

Leeds dropping so deep they are almost in Huddersfield

8:28pm

This is like being back in League 2 playing some relegation candidate, just 10 men sat deep with the occasional long ball. Hilarious. #bcafc

— Aidan Flood (@AidanFlood) August 27, 2014

8:25pm

Mclean whips dangerous ball across six-yard box, Meredith returns it but Pearce clears away. Cue even more noise from the Kop

That's the fourth red card for Leeds this season and we're still in August

8:19pm

11 v 10.... going to be interesting now!

8:19pm

Another bad tackle from Murphy - and he's off! Slid in on Meredith to collect inevitable second booking...

8:16pm

8:15pm

Good to hear that the main stand screecher has got her ticket ...

8:14pm

Kennedy cross has too much on it for Hanson but Meredith retrieves with another good cross which deserved some reward...

8:13pm

Great game for a neutral, this. Shame I'm not a neutral. #bcafc

— Richard Killip(@richardkillip) August 27, 2014

8:13pm

8:11pm

Best chance of the game so far was still the one for Mclean...

8:11pm

Smith wins header over Darby but it drops harmlessly for Williams to gather

8:07pm

Meredith throws himself in the way of Sharp to prevent the striker turning on Smith's knockdown in the six-yard box

8:06pm

Great delivery again but Pearce gets a head on it before ball whacked into touch

8:05pm

Another chance from a Sheehan free-kick ...

8:04pm

Mclean a whisker away from opening the scoring! Sheehan whips in deep cross to far post where striker nods just wide...

8:04pm

8:03pm

Sheehan kick cleared out of the scrum of players

8:03pm

Kennedy mishit cross nearly embarrasses Taylor who is forced to tip it over the bar for City corner.

8:02pm

Mclean back on

8:02pm

Meredith throw-in drops to Hanson and loose ball falls for Clarke. His shot is blocked by Pearce

8:01pm

Getting treatment from Matt Barrass. Striker was nowhere near the ball, maybe the calf flaring up?

8:00pm

Mclean down on the floor

8:00pm

7:58pm

Leeds have gone English for tonight with only one Italian, Tomasso Bianchi, in the starting line-up named by Dave Hockaday.

LEEDS: Taylor, Wootton, Pearce, Cooper, Warnock, Bianchi, Tonge, Norris, Murphy, Sharp, Smith. Subs: Ajose, Taylor, Cook, Poleon, Benedicic, Antenucci, Silvestri.

6:30pm

Billy Clarke returns as Phil Parkinson makes four changes from the side that started the Peterborough game.

Clarke, now fully recovered from his minor hamstring injury, will play in the hole behind James Hanson and Aaron Mclean. Mason Bennett is ineligible because Derby are still in the cup.

Ben Williams replaces Jordan Pickford, another who is not allowed to play, and James Meredith comes in for Andrew Davies. Alan Sheehan shifts across to centre back.

CITY: Williams, Darby, McArdle, Sheehan, Meredith, Liddle, Kennedy, Knott, Clarke, Mclean, Hanson. Subs: Dolan, Yeates, Morais, Shariff, Routis, McBurnie, Urwin.

Shame about the away draw but great to have beaten Leeds.
Scum fans and how true is that trying to start on innocent people in the interchange.
Can we all realise what a good manger in parky we have got.
We are lucky to have him. He does not get the appreciation he deserves sometimes.
Williams looks a good keeper and I would keep him in goal.
Don't know what deal we have on playing him but Williams deserves a start next league game.

What a night...... As much as I hate leeds united and especially the fans I do feel a little sorry for hockaday since he's going to loose his job over this, disappointed with that to55er that ran onto the pitch too from our end. Great way to represent our club but that isn't going to ruin my night. Just done the old enemy and I'm still bouncing and will be for the rest of the week

Was one of what must have been only a few hundred people left at the final whistle 28 years ago, and it's been a long time coming, which seemed like it was gonna be a lifetime, when they score completely out of the blue late on.

All their tactics seemed to consist of was the long ball to Smith, although I thought we dealt with it very poorly.

I don't know what was the most stupid; Murphy's challenge after his yellow, or the behaviour of their mindless majority, who spoil it for their genuine fans.

I actually thought Knott faded after a good 1st half, but what a brilliant strike it was. He looks a good signing; comfortable on the ball and always looking for it.

I think we need to move the ball quicker at times, but it was great to see us try and get the ball down and play, and this win should give them a lot of confidence.

Before the game began, curiously, ACDC's " Highway to hell" could be heard playing over the public address system. At the end, it should have been the Eagles' "one Of these nights!! The fans and the team got our memorable win and performance here and in spades. This was back to the 'we made history nights' and with a huge crowd and the Kop in ear-splitting voice, it just felt as if a 'result' was on the cards.

The first half was cagey, with both teams testing one another out. The sending off, reducing Leeds to ten, didn't make as much of a difference to the approach of both teams at first but in the final 10 mins, it was City doing all the attacking.

The second half took things up a gear or two. City carried on the out and out attacks, whilst Leeds were depending on a quick counter offensive.

The Leeds goal came from just such a counter attack and was a massive body blow!City had had many chances but just couldn't put the all in the net. The Leeds players celebrated lengthily as if they'd won the game - certainly their fans thought so.

But then a quick one two from Knott and -who else- Big Jim Hansen, proved the coup de gras! Leeds were as stunned as Coventry had been. And City had got their longed for win!! What a night!

BrilLIANt singing on the Kop but one black mark - cut out the offensive Jimmy Savile chant!

Is it going to be 'another' cup run? Why not!!

If I've been 'thumb- downed' because of my point about the Jimmy Saville chant, I stick by my comment.

This subject is not a suitable one for even terrace 'banter' and is as bad in its way as Leeds mocking Man Utd's Munich Disaster, other clubs mocking Auschwitz re: Tottenham Hotspur'sJewish supporters. ie it leaves a nasty taste in the mouths of decent fans.

City have always been able to hold their heads up with regard to chanting/ singing but some seem desperate to bring nastiness/unpleasant
ness into it which is not helpful.

Eg it's sad that City fans sing what has always been A Leeds United chant ie "go get your father's gun and shoot..."

There are a number of REAL City anthems that are our own and none better than "Take Me Home". These have the advantage of getting MORE people to join in too!

City have always been able to hold their heads up with regard to chanting/ singing but some seem desperate to bring nastiness/unpleasant ness into it which is not helpful. Eg it's sad that City fans sing what has always been A Leeds United chant ie "go get your father's gun and shoot..." There are a number of REAL City anthems that are our own and none better than "Take Me Home". These have the advantage of getting MORE people to join in too! Cityman23
