ANDY Robinson produced a stunning spell of bowling to put Horsforth on the way to a crushing eight-wicket win over Silsden as they clinched promotion from Division Three of the Aire-Wharfe League.

Having just missed out last year and applying for re-election the year before, Horsforth set out their stall for promotion with some top pre-season signings.

It is one thing to have ambition, another to fulfil it – but Horsforth have managed both, entering the top two after week five and never losing top spot after gaining it two weeks later.

Robinson, who returned to Horsforth from Colton last summer, quickly had Silsden on the rack, removing both openers with only 12 scored.

Gulsheraz Ahmed (20) did his best but his team-mates could not cope – especially with Robinson, who ended with 6-17 off six overs, including a hat-trick, as the visitors collapsed to 36 all out, which Horsforth knocked off in just nine overs.

Illingworth (258-7) look set to be the other promoted side after they took 20 points in a comfortable win over Menston (74) while Olicanian were inflicting a shock defeat on third-placed New Rover.

A 6-36 spell by Jamie Hudson helped restrict Rover to 217-9 before David Healey took charge. He and fellow opener Dan Thomas (43) put on 130 and then, after four quick wickets fell, he teamed up with Will Pearson (48no) to see Olicanian home by six wickets. Healey was unbeaten on 110 made in 98 balls.

Johnny Johnson (82) and Will Atkins (54) led the way as Addingham passed Bardsey's 190-3 for the loss of five wickets to notch a seventh straight win.

Jonathan Hudson (3-33) and Tom Simpson (4-23) dismissed Alwoodley for 69 to clinch victory for Calverley (144-9), while Hall Park (162) became the third victims of bottom club Alwoodley's (187-7) late-season revival.

Burley continue to try to hunt down Division One leaders Otley and kept their rivals in sight with an impressive win over third-placed Beckwithshaw.

Harry Brook (26no) top-scored as Burley only managed 105 but any fears that would not be enough disappeared as Jason Wright (3-21) and Kyme Tahirkheli (4-14) skittled the visitors for 68.

Ricky Halloran (5-8) starred as bottom side Ben Rhydding were dismissed for 57, setting up a comfortable six-wicket win for Otley.

Steeton (152-9) were left a tantalising six runs short of victory and had to share the spoils with Pool (157-8) in their rain-affected match.

Rawdon (101) had also looked poised for victory at Bilton (85-6) before the game was abandoned – but they only managed three bonus points to Pool's six and are now just four better off than their relegation-threatened rivals.

Guiseley were unable to defend their 103 total against five-wicket winners Kirkstall, while Ilkley (128) went down by 33 runs at Collingham (161).

Green Lane continue to threaten to snatch one of the two promotion spots from Division Two after Michael Abbott (78) and Waleed Akthar

(48) saw them to 188-6, which proved enough to beat Thackley (126-9).

Andy Bailey and Matthew Hogg scampered a leg bye off the last available ball to take Harden past Colton's 145 with one wicket to spare. Paul Quinlan took 5-43 in the Colton innings.

With leaders Follifoot (208-6) unable to complete their match at Bolton Villas (127-4) and North Leeds (226-4) crushing Upper Wharfedale (126), only 17 points separate Follifoot from Green Lane in fourth.

Nadim Hanif (7-12) bowled out Skipton for 82 and, despite the efforts of Richard Nicholls (6-26) and Andy Rushton (3-27), Tong Park Esholt scraped home with one wicket in hand.
