Brighouse Town 0, Scarborough Athletic 4

AFTER a bright opening, the harsh reality of life in the Evo-Stik League was brought home to Brighouse Town at the Dual Seal Stadium.

Town had started the season in Division One North with back-to-back victories and followed that up with a 2-2 draw at Clitheroe on Saturday.

But their fourth fixture saw them ship in four goals against Scarborough Athletic.

Boro and Town were Northern Counties East League Premier Division rivals but the east-coast outfit have since had a year in the Evo-Stik League.

And on the evidence of this game, Boro have learned a lot in that time.

They edged in front after just eight minutes when former Farsley man Ben Middleton headed in from a corner.

The same player doubled their lead midway through the first half and James Bennett added the third before the interval.

Ryan Blott was then on target just after the hour mark as Town tumbled from second to eighth with their first defeat of the campaign, with Boro climbing to fourth.
