FARSLEY'S season sprung into life with a 5-0 victory over Padiham in Evo-Stik League Division One North at Throstle Nest on Saturday.

Aiden Savory slotted home the opening goal in the eighth minute after good work from Adam Priestley and Lewis Nightingale in the build-up.

A rapid brace from Spencer Harris then took the game away from the visitors.

A Harris header converted a 15th-minute corner and just five minutes later he popped up at the far post to net his second.

Padiham reached the break without any further damage, although Nightingale did hit a post.

Savory netted his second goal midway through the second half with a shot from the edge of the area.

Priestley made way for Marcus Edwards and the substitute twice went close before giving the home side a nap hand right at the death.

The victory lifted Farsley up to sixth place ahead of today's derby at Harrogate Railway Athletic. Railway were beaten 6-1 at Droylsden on Saturday and remain bottom of the table.

Brighouse Town are second after battling for a 2-2 draw at Clitheroe, having twice fallen a goal behind. Ryan Hall hit both of the equalisers.

The home side took an early lead from the penalty spot, Daniel Wilkins netting, and Steve Mercer put Clitheroe back in front just a minute after Hall's first.

Town's Bank Holiday Monday opponents are Scarborough Athletic, who are on the back of a 3-2 home win.

Boro come to the Dual Seal Stadium in eighth spot after taking six points from a possible nine.
