SECOND-placed New Wortley found themselves worse off than before in the Dales Council League title race despite being awarded victory without having to play.

Scheduled Division A opponents Adel could not raise a team so conceded the result, with New Wortley earning 15 points as a result.

But leaders Halifax Direct took 17 points from their rain-affected win against Pudsey St Lawrence and so they now have an eight-point cushion at the summit.

Halifax Direct amassed 190-4 in 25 overs, Muhammad Chaand top scoring with 61, before restricting Saints to 101-5 in 28 overs.

Third-placed Leeds Sikh, who are further 36 points back, bowled out Shipley Providence – who are fourth – for 103 before winning the low-scoring contest by three wickets. Manish Parimoo made a useful 39.

Rock-bottom Baildon could only muster 123 at Farnley Hill, who won by nine wickets thanks to Ryan Grimes' unbeaten 64.

Cookridge were restricted to 132-9 (Colin Oates 45) in a rain-affected 27-over game at Smithy Lane.

Opponents Savile Stars knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets, with Wasim Patel the top-scorer on 72 backed up by Imran Patel's 41.

The fixture between Tong Park Esholt and Pudsey Congs was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to the weather.

Division B leaders Bradford Moor had a blank weekend, along with Farsley.

But second-placed Thornbury were handed 15 points when Pudsey Congs B, like Adel in the top section, could not raise a team. This was due to club members attending the Challenge Cup rugby league final.

Third-placed Drighlington/Whitehall made the day's top score of 237-4 against Cookridge B, Aidan Dunne leading the way with 94. This included a second-wicket partnership of 156 with Matthew Waller, who hit 82.

Dunne then also showed his ability with the ball as a return of 6-11 in seven overs helped hustle out Cookridge for just 93 in response.

Division C leaders Crompark and third-placed Thornbury B both had byes.

But Morley, in second place, were denied the chance to take advantage when their game at Pudsey St Lawrence B was abandoned with the visitors on 13-0.

Cookridge C declared after scoring 187-6 in 40 overs, with Summit Jain amassing 106 not out, and then bowled out eight-man Drighlington/Whitehall B for 104 as Mounam Ejaz picked up 5-12.

Nine-man Baildon B could only manage 89 against Wibsey Park Chapel – but this still proved to be more than enough.

Donny Wooller took 6-17 to help dismiss Chapel for 60 as his side took a welcome 16 points from the game.
