ANDREW Davies handed City their first injury scare of the season – as Peterborough inflicted their first defeat.
The defensive talisman went off early in the second half clutching his left arm and had it strapped up before the end.
And Posh added salt to City’s wounds by scoring the only goal just a couple of minutes later.
Peterborough had the best chances of a first half that was played at a lively tempo.
Jordan Pickford saved well from Conor Washington early on but the City keeper breathed a sigh of relief when a Ricardo Santos header bounced off the post and Christian Burgess could not force the ball over the line.
Ben Alnwick, who had a pre-season trial with the Bantams, then produced a diving save to his left to keep out Billy Knott’s drive right on half-time.
But City were rocked by the Davies injury ten minutes after the break – and within two minutes found themselves behind to Kyle Vassell’s well-placed curler.
Pickford prevented Newell from doubling the Posh lead before James Hanson tested Alnwick.
Sub Mark Yeates skied a chance in the nine minutes of added time but there was no way back for the home side.
The whistle sounds and City are beaten for the first time since Easter Monday
... but Posh have the bodies back to deal with it again
Corner for City....
Meredith throw-in drops at the feet of McArdle. He funnels ball back to Yeates who skies chance from 12 yards out
Sheehan cross is defended in numbers by Posh. Ball hacked out for a throw-in
Mclean flicks on free-kick but ball loops wide
Mclean goes down under Burgess challenge holding his ankle. Ferguson argues that the striker was making the most of it
Corner for Peterborough as the board goes up with NINE extra minutes...
Mclean header lacks the power to trouble Alnwick
Finally, finally the ref has something to say about it. He races all the way to the dug-out to book Newell for dawdling
Now it's time for McCann to come on for Newell, who was the furthest player away
Barnett replaces Vassell and we're still waiting for McCann to come on. Tempers are fraying
Double sub for Posh and they are taking plenty of time about it.
City, clearly in shock at this unexpected turn of events, do nothing with the free-kick
A foul has been given in Hanson's favour.... repeat, a foul has been given to Hanson for a change
Hanson hits a swerving angled drive which Alnwick pushes away with some discomfort
"You don't know what you're doing" shout the ref's fan club in the stands
Corner to Peterborough as the chants of "cheat" continue
13 minutes to go - but that might be nearer 20 with the extras to be added
Blatant dive from Smith and Knott is furious. Ref not fooled - but doesn't take any action with the Peterborough sub
Davies watching the game from the doorway of the changing room with his arm strapped up
Odd how Premier league refs give fouls against Hanson. #bcafc

Crowd is 13,546 with 460 visitors
Smith gets his head on Morais free-kick and danger is cleared
Liddle cleverly nutmegs Vassell by side of the box, who does not move his ground. Should be a booking but only a free-kick given
Posh down to ten men as City try to force their way back
Brisley gone down the tunnel for cut on his head to be patched up
Gonna be oodles of added time ...
Play stopped again for another injury to a centre half. This time it's Peterborough's Shaun Brisley...
Kop trying to rally City but it's been a massively deflating couple of minutes
To add insult to injury, Peterborough take the lead. Smith plays ball into VASSELL who curls shot into far corner
Meredith replaces him and Sheehan switches to centre half where he played against Morecambe
Applause as Davies is able to walk off. Holding his left shoulder...
Horrible hush around the ground as Davies is about to be stretchered off

It's off the line!
Washington's shot takes a deflection to wrong-foot Pickford but falls wide for Posh corner
City have men in the box but a poor cross from Liddle is easily snaffled by Alnwick
Huge roar as Hanson finally awarded a free-kick from a Peterborough sandwich. No hint of sarcasm there obviously ...
More touchline frustration between Parkinson and the fourth official after a contentious free-kick given against Knott
— Tom & Dom (@bantamsbanter) August 23, 2014
Looked worse than it was because Sheehan was spinning away. No yellow card
Sheehan nicks the ball off Vassell who then goes through the defender. Cue heated reaction from the dug-out
Darby and Kennedy, the pair who combined for the opener at Crawley, link well again but Alnwick confidently claims the captain's cross. Posh keeper has settled down now
Timely tackle from McArdle as Ferdinand sneaks into City penalty area
Good chasing down from City earns the cheers of the crowd. But Posh look a threat when they pass around midfield
Bennett and Santos tangle but no foul given. Parkinson stands with his arms outstretched in front of the fourth official
Two men on Hanson for every high ball. Ferguson has clearly done his homework

Liddle and Knott get stuck in to keep ball alive outside the Peterborough box. Kennedy picks it up but cannot get enough oomph on his connection

After the earlier rain and dark clouds, the sun has broken through as both teams warm up

Ben Alnwick starts in goal for Peterborough. You might remember him from the first half of City's first pre-season friendly at Guiseley!
Posh have a few injury problems and are likely to line up 3-5-2. Darren Ferguson has been forced to include three youth-team players among his substitutes.
PETERBOROUGH: Alnwick, Ferdinand, Santos, Brisley, Burgess, Newell, Payne, J Anderson, Mendez-Laing, Washington, Vassell. Subs: Smith, McCann, Barnett, Luto, H Anderson, Edwards, Day.
Don't forget to tweet a picture of you or your friend’s goal face if (or should that be when) City score against Peterborough this afternoon, by adding the hashtag #tandagoalface.
Iphones and smart phones at the ready. You can also tweet your pictures to me @parkertanda. Get snapping and we will publish the best in an online gallery and in the T&A.
Love a wet match day ☺️ slip and slide and we fall in love #bcafc

There's only one change from the side that started City's impressive win at Crawley.
Mason Bennett earns the start for his excellent second-half display and goal. So Aaron Mclean is on the bench against the side where he scored 83 goals in 178 starts in a prolific four-year stint.
Andrew Davies had a touch of illness overnight but has been declared fit to play after his earlier run-out with Nick Allamby.
Filipe Morais has done well on the road against Morecambe and Crawley and starts for the first time at Valley Parade.
CITY: Pickford, Darby, McArdle, Davies, Sheehan, Liddle, Kennedy, Knott, Morais, Bennett, Hanson. Subs: Meredith, Dolan, Yeates, Shariff, Routis, McBurnie, Williams.

In the meantime, here's me doing the Ice Bucket Challenge for charity ..... yes, it was very cold!
No team news for about another 20 minutes but Andrew Davies has been out early doing some work with Nick Allamby. Hope it's nothing to worry about with City's defensive lynchpin
Good afternoon and welcome from the Coral Windows Stadium as City look to build on their fast start against Peterborough.
The Sky Sports cameras are here already in preparation for the Leeds game on Wednesday. But all eyes for now are focused on League One and maintaining the unbeaten run.
