Bradford City keep it light during heavy schedule

DECISION TIME: Phil Parkinson must choose whether to go with Aaron Mclean, pictured, or Mason Bennett tomorrow against Posh

CITY have taken the softly, softly approach to ensure the team will come out firing against Posh tomorrow.

After three away games on the bounce, Phil Parkinson has limited the players to light training sessions to top up energy levels for their return to Valley Parade.

Parkinson said: “The most important thing from Tuesday to Saturday is giving the players as much chance as possible to recover and get the energy back in their legs.

“There’s nothing worse as a player than going out on a Saturday and leaving your legs on the training pitch.

“Peterborough have had a good start and we’re not reading too much into their defeat on Tuesday.

“They were unlucky to lose to a smash and grab victory from Sheffield United. They dominated the first half and could have been out of sight.

“We know they are a high-energy type of team and we have to make sure we match them physically.”

Billy Clarke is getting closer to a return but may not be risked. So Parkinson’s only big call is whether to start either Peterborough old boy Aaron Mclean or Mason Bennett.

The pair shared a shift at Crawley and the City boss may be tempted to do the same.

Parkinson added: “Aaron has now done two 30 minutes and a 45 and he’s looking fit. Mason was good when he came on the other night so I’m pleased with both of them.”

Expectations are rising ahead of City’s first home game for a fortnight – and the crowd could be swelled by those wanting to get a Leeds ticket who need a stub.

“I’m sure the supporters will get behind the team as always and really make home advantage count.

“I don’t think Peterborough will bring more than a few hundred fans so we need to make the most of that.”

The visitors will give a full debut to centre half Christian Burgess following his move from Middlesbrough.

They are already missing four defenders through injury but expect left back Kgosi Ntlhe, who limped off on Tuesday with a sore hip, to be fit. The South African scored a stunner against City last season.

Their side will include keeper Ben Alnwick, who played the first half of City’s opening pre-season friendly at Guiseley before joining Posh on a two-year deal.

I don't often comment on here but felt compelled to log in and tell you that you really are an idiot Peter. I cannot for the life of me understand what kick you get out of posting your antagonistic messages so frequently.

A win tomorrow and Leeds lose that will be some presure on the Leeds camp come wed. All the new recruits have done exceptionally well looks like Parky has done his homework on the players that he has brought in, and Kennedy is like a new signing hope he keeps it up as I think he has made a tremendous difference , last year there were a number of fans that posted negative comments in relation as to if he was good enough for this div well it looks like he is proving them wrong now and that includes myself so good luck tomorrow 2-1 to City.
