SALTAIRE AA Result of Sunday’s match at Tong Park: 1 Tony Kenny 5lb 5oz; 2 Scott Weston 4lb 12oz; 3= Mark Proctor, Adrian Hillary 2lb 7oz. On an extremely windy day, with some heavy showers, all ten anglers caught. Best fish: 4lb 4oz ide (T Kenny), six eels to 1¼lb, many perch to 1¾lb and several roach.
On the River Aire, there have been reports from the middle and bottom lengths of at least one double-figure trout, some anglers catching chub, barbel and trout in a single session, many trout to 5lb and chub to 4lb, and again some anglers catching grayling, chub and trout on flies or lures.
WASHBURN VALLEY Catch details for week ending August 17 – day tickets, Fewston 16, Swinsty 4; total fish caught 44, 5; average per rod 2.75, 1.25. Heaviest fish caught was a 6lb 2oz rainbow trout by Tim Pryke using black hopper. Fewston: Similar to last week, with more wind. Trout feeding near the surface, taking dry fly and nymph. Swinsty: Perch in abundance, ready to take worm jogged under a float.
Thruscross: Wild winds putting anglers off chasing wild brown trout. LISTERHILLS AA Anglers are recommended to dry all nets, unhooking mats and weigh slings between sessions to stop the spread of KHV. The last of the evening matches was won by E Harrison with 4lb 12oz – a tench plus some rudd. The draw for tomorrow’s open match at Rodley is at 9am by the road bridge. Weights in the match on the Wharfe at Ulleskelf were lower than expected. Result: 1 E Harrison (mixed catch) 3lb 4oz, 2 G Kitchen 2lb 10oz, 3 D Stephenson 2lb 2oz.
