KEIGHLEY Cricket Club, who successfully staged the Priestley Shield final on Sunday, are hosting the Bradford Evening League finals on Bank Holiday Monday.

The first game, starting at 11am, is between Division Two champions Wibsey Park Chapel and Les Benson trophy holders Denholme, who were runners-up in Division One.

Wibsey skipper Chris Brown will no doubt be looking to overseas star Kashif Naveed to make a major contribution – especially in blunting the effect of Phil Poole, who won the Division One bowling award.

The second match, at about 1.30pm, pits Division One champions Salem Athletic against Division Two runners-up Thackley.

Salem will be confident of going through to the final, making amends for the last time they qualified for the play-offs, only to have the event cancelled due to bad weather.

But Thackley’s squad have players capable of causing an upset and they will be hoping to celebrate a successful season with a good performance.

The final will take place at about 4.30pm between the winners of the first two games.

Windhill have recently staged the finals but no longer have a team in the league.
