BRADFORD Salem were defeated 26-15 by West Leeds in the inaugural Craig Busby Memorial match at Blue Hill Lane.

Tries for the visitors came from Amesh Ahir, Ali Veitch and Sam Dunn but they could not add any conversions.

Salem included players in their 40s (Damien Cope), 50s (Gary Scott and Neil Klenk) and 60s (Bruce Strachan) against the younger hosts – but they shared a bottle of port in Busby's memory on the pitch afterwards.

A collection was also made for Myeloma UK. Former Salem and West Leeds coach Busby, who died in March, suffered from this type of cancer.
