BRADFORD No1 AA

Five chub, for a total of 16lb 12oz, from Pete Atkins won last weekend’s members’ match at Maunby on Swale. Second place went to Dave Bramley (10lb 2oz), followed by James Vickerman (7lb 10oz). Andy Jacques leads the aggregate weight with 64lb 7oz, just two pounds ahead of Howard Foster with two matches remaining. Some sections of the River Calder will be closed this Sunday for round four of the Calder League, which draws at the Railway Inn at 9am. It is requested that anglers ensure that all nets, weigh slings, unhooking mats and stink bags are dried completely, in direct sunlight if possible, between fishing any venue. This is due to a number of outbreaks of KHV in the area, and failure to do so may mean that the virus spreads to club waters, causing fish stocks to be wiped out. Any members with club trophies are asked to return them to the match secretary ready for engraving. If any members witness illegal activities around Kirklees Lagoon, please report them to the club via a form on the club website (www.bradfordno1.com) so that they can be investigated by the police and/or Calderdale Council.

SALTAIRE AA

Tong Park is closed on Sunday for a match. All venues have fished well in the last month. One of our novice ladies, Elisabeth Baxter, caught 40 perch in a session on Sunday, August 3. Some of our fly anglers have caught trout, grayling and chub on the fly in the same session on the rive, with some excellent barbel being caught just downstream of Salts Mill Weir. The last five days have unfortunately seen a coloured river with little to report. We would appreciate some more hands to assist with bank work at Tong Park on Saturday from 8.30am prior to Sunday's match. Anyone who would like to fish the match at Tong Park should contact Dave on 07909-813915 before Saturday night.
