Couldn't pick a better time to play them. Went to school in guiseley so was surrounded by smug Leeds scum. They have always been 'better' than us in my life time and I've never seen us beat them. Absolutely hate them and would love nothing more than stuffing them at the valley.
Unfortunately I am on my stag do that week so won't be able to go. Seriously considering valuing off the wedding.

Brilliant - we gave them a good go at Elland Rd a few years ago and i reckon we can turn them over 3.2, 4.2 or 3.1 at Valley Parade.

Either way it will be a cracking atmosphere, show the players what we could have most weeks in the Championship and if we manage it right with the away fans we should be able to get a crowd of 22-23,000 even though it is the end of the holiday season. Hopefully they will allow pay on the day as there is no real difference to who can buy a ticket, the idiots will in advance and it is the good natured casual who may not be able to decide until late you keep out.

The TV game would bring in more cash and give those who travel 100 miles + to get to the game a dilemma.

It's going to pay some wages of the squad we are assembling and certainty justified getting a couple of proper keepers for the cup games.

Bring it on.

You could say one hundred things more but lets do our talking on the pitch!!

Time to move on Esseness. The van at odsal was rocked which caused the fat to spill over and catch fire; awful event but not intentional. Not sure how old you are but Leeds hosted a game to raise funds for tragic victims of that terrible day in 1985 which was attended by over 20,000 LUFC fans. As for chanting "scum" at you guys this is a figment of you're imagination. We have never and will never chant about the fire that destroyed so many families. The animosity between the fans of our club is one way and judging by the contents of you're post I guess others will decide who is stirring trouble!

Leeds United tried to sanction their away supporters by introducing a membership card. For reasons known only to the FA, they (the FA) lifted the restriction immediately prior to that match.

What manifested was a running battle both inside and outside Odsal. Neither set of 'supporters' emerged with any credit. Many were known to each other; they probably drank in the same pubs and were by and large adolescent/young men..

As trouble escalated, the chip van began being being 'bricked' from behind. Proper Leeds fans in front were injured by flying objects. Some idiot then thought it would be a good idea to rock the van backwards and forwards. Eventually, the inevitable happened. The primary purpose had not been to set it on fire but any right-minded person could have envisaged the likely scenario.

It is only natural that the likes of Stuart McCall and Don Goodman (to name buttwo) had every right to be upset. It would have been impossible to besubjective in those circumstances.

However, I think there is too much by way of self indulgence / claiming the moral high by those associated (but not directly affected) by what happened.

It is just a shame that the police did not give them all a good hiding. The problem was with society and not with genuine fans of either club. Twenty-eight years on (from Odsal) - you should by now have re-evaluated what happened that day.

Wow. Don't want to start WW3. I too was at the game; am obviously a Leeds fan but stood with the City fans were 4 of my cousins (who all still follow your club). Do you think for one second that I would chant that or anything similar?
What you are claiming did not happen. As another contributor states above both sets of fans were up for it back then; there is no moral high ground.
I think about the fire down at City regularly as do many Leeds with sadness.
All clubs attract extremes; you obviously are unaware of "ointment" or you wouldn't have made such a naive comment.
Good luck to your club this year once you have played the Mighty Whites!

Out of respect to those that suffered, I don't think it is appropriate to get into an argument about whose supporters did what. For what it is worth, it is quite possible that a few idiots shouted sick comments (that can easily echo) but I do not think it ever gave way to wholesale chanting. Frankly, I would remind anyone to thank their lucky stars for not being killed by the blaze. Beyond that, a cup tie is there to be enjoyed but is wholly insignificant when compared to a tragedy.

We have our differences, but after all we are supporters of two clubs, who have seen both the good and the bad times. As such we are kindred spirits.
