Aaron Mclean’s controversial late strike put City into tomorrow’s Capital One Cup second round draw.
With extra-time looming, the substitute latched on to Billy Knott’s pass and barrelled his way through to score the only goal – with a hint of hand ball.
It proved enough to settle a close contest that was high on energy but low on genuine excitement.
James Hanson had a header cleared off the line just before half-time while keeper Ben Williams, making his City debut, defied Paul Mullin in stoppage time.
