NEW Farnley could well win the second teams' Division One title in only their second season in the JCT600 Bradford League.

Promoted last season behind Pudsey Congs in Division Two, they lead defending champions Morley by 15 points with four matches left.

New Farnley recorded a 100-run win over Yeadon as Joe Bedford hit an unbeaten 59 out of 204-7. Yeadon, despite 35 from George Barker, crumbled to 104 all out as Sukhdip Mann took 4-20.

Morley climbed into second place following a 61-run win over Bradford & Bingley.

Left-armer Spenser Horsfall was Morley’s match-winner, taking 5-21 as Bingley were dismissed for 118 in reply to Morley’s 179. Pudsey Congs dropped to third after suffering a one-wicket defeat against Keighley. Humayum Shahzad (60no) and Steve Reape (51) masterminded Keighley’s successful pursuit of Congs’ 184-8.

Steve Bourne smashed three sixes and 17 fours in 132 in Hanging Heaton’s 310-6 against Lightcliffe, who were defeated by 134 runs.

East Bierley’s Ross Monaghan hit an unbeaten 105 to help them ease their relegation fears with a five-wicket win over Baildon.

Five penalty runs were awarded for only the second time this season in the match between Woodlands and Farsley. The penalty was imposed on Farsley batsman Karl Morris when he kicked down his stumps after being given out stumped.

The penalty runs helped Woodlands to a second batting point in their ten-run win. Slow bowlers Liam Collins (6-36) and Phil Walker (4-29) dismissed Farsley for 143.
