BRADFORD may still not have won a game in the Yorkshire Inter-District Union League.

But they caused a major shock by earning an 18-18 draw with joint leaders Sheffield at Baildon, the steel-city men having won all four matches previously in 2014.

Bradford's non-playing captain Tim Wade said: "This was a very satisfying result for us after all that had happened this year (chiefly availability issues).

"Cec (Bloice) and myself were immensely proud of the players for their commitment and determination against a very strong Sheffield side.

"In fact, this is the only point Sheffield have dropped in two seasons, so we are proud of that as well.

"What might have been might have been but if you had asked us before play started if we would have taken a half, I think that the answer would probably have been yes."

Keighley's Calum Hey pulled out on Friday tea-time, so Bradford gave a debut to Jack Hall (South Bradford) after good results this season.

Bradford finished the foursomes tying at 6-6, with victories for Andy Busfield (South Bradford) and Rob Mally (Northcliffe) 4&3, Chris Howe (Hollins Hall) and JD Hussain (Northcliffe) 3&2, after Howe holed their second on the par-three 16th, and Bingley St Ives' Dane Bairstow and Henry Tetley, by one hole.

Singles wins went to Bairstow, Andy Town (Bingley St Ives), Howe, Hussain and Busfield, with Terry Brushwood (Bingley St Ives) and Tetley gaining halves in what was a memorable display.
