HORSFORTH'S David Stone has been named in a five-rider British squad to compete in the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in the United States later this month.
Stone will be defending his T2 time trial title as part of a British quintet that is led by Dame Sarah Storey.
The 11-time Paralympic champion returns to road racing at world level in Greenville, South Carolina at the championships, which take place from August 28 to September 1, following the birth of daughter Louisa last year.
Stone's fellow defending time-trial champion Lora Turnham and her tandem pilot Corrine Hall (B/VI) will compete alongside Storey and Karen Darke.
British Cycling technical director Shane Sutton said: "We're sending a small but strong team out to South Carolina, with David, Karen, Corrine and Lora all consistently finishing on the podium at the world cups.
"Dame Sarah has returned to form and we've seen she's back to her winning ways on the track so I'm looking forward to seeing this form transition onto the road.
"I'm confident the team we've selected will continue the momentum from the world cups and will be able to end their road season on a high."
