Bradford Bulls 16, Wigan Warriors 8

JIMMY Lowes was left delighted as the Bulls toppled champions Wigan to record their first win since he took charge.

Last season’s double winners led through Dom Manfredi early on but, despite the loss of Brett Kearney to concussion in the opening quarter, Bradford roared back.

They scored twice through Danny Williams and Joe Arundel to lead 12-4 at the break and earn a standing ovation from the home faithful.

The Bulls were largely dominant in the first half, with Elliot Kear impressing after being switched to full back, but the second half was more evenly balanced.

Yet Lowes’ men struck the crucial first try of the second half in the 61st minute when Matty Blythe plunged over in the left corner to cap a fine handling sequence.

Manfredi’s second with 13 minutes remaining gave last season’s double winners hope but the Bulls were not to be denied and held on for a famous win.

It was their first victory in five games since Lowes took charge and their first since beating Wakefield at Odsal on June 1.

4:46pm

That was a proper competitive game. Solid defence and some good work in attack. The change of coach seems to have worked. Maybe sentiment has held us back.

Cracking stuff!! Anyone notice that a few of our lads are in markedly better nick physically, Addy, Sidlow, Nas, all look like they've been in the gym and out some pounds on up top. We matched wigan in the forwards today and that's why we won.

Well done Jimmy and all the boys!

Couldn't agree more with the plaudits today. Done us proud boys, funny old game when the pressure is off.
No team associated with Jimmy Lowe's will lack aggression and desire. Look out Championship.

You keep giving yourself away. How many usernames does 1 person have on here?
I had a free afternoon so wondered down. Might aswell cheer on a local team with a fight on their hands.
Scrappy game but entertaining. Cougars very fortunate to go in ahead at half time. Doncaster started second half on fire, but the turning point was grabbing a grubber kick on Doncasters last tackle and running 80 meters to setup a score. The 40:20 at the end gave them breathing space and they saw out the win.
All this is a level of rugby you didn't know existed and hopefully the revamped format will help these clubs unlike Bronco who would rather see them die for the Bulls gain.

Yes but it's not just who are top 4 in Championship TVOR, Potentially Bulls have to get in top 4 THEN play against the bottom 4 in Super league so a potential league of :
Hull fc
Wakey
Salford
London
Leigh
Fev
Fax
Bulls
Which they then have to finish top 4 (after4v5 playoff) in that to get back in, If Bulls think that's a given they are more deluded than I thought.

It was a good win but a bit late. Beating the Wire was good but that is basically it. Even the Bulls fans said too many handling errors and bad defence.
I hope they don't go to Valley Parade but economically some will say its needed for both clubs as the council reap the benefits. If it happens of course.

Obviously maths isn't your strong point seeing as your "potential league " consists of 3 super league teams and 5 championship teams ..........D'OH !

Just been reading through a few threads, prior to my evening meal, and I find that the trolls are not perfect! They say I said " we're in the money "after Provident became the sponsor, not so. It was after OK became the owner, the only ones that seemed to do any spouting re Provident was said Trolls, going on about " pay day loans "

Acronyms are my thing at the moment, TVOR, as you have seen. Here's one for you,

Approximately 3000 from Wigan!

Nevertheless, a big "WELL DONE".

Same again, next week, would give us all a lot of pleasure, not least Jimmy!
Sush, you'll break the illusion if you point out stuff like that.
You weren't there, were you? Illusions are part of the unreal !
This was no illusion nor was it unreal. The bulls were a team of winners and Wigan were actually blown away by the skill and commitment by our team.
We spoke to many Wigan supporters who as always were gracious in defeat, but more than that they were deeply saddened by our relegation.
In fact they put the likes of you and some of the other mealy mouthed trolls to shame.
Carry on with your sad and inaccurate assessment of all things to do with the Bulls, you do your worst and we will do our best!

Rubbish you don't know what you were talking about. We had 12 errors in the whole game Wigan had 17. Our defence was not at fault, nor was Wigan's. It was a good game and worthy of any good quality SL clash.
Learn to watch the enthusiasm of the crowd, and listen to their comments.
Come clean PSW, you made that up didn't you??
