SALEM Athletic are a point away from claiming their first Bradford & District Evening League title after defeating defending champions Denholme.

Tom Cummins (36) was the only batsmen to make a score of any note against some impressive Salem bowling.

Opener Dil Nawaz (26no) held the reply together, ably supported by Waheed Rehman (22) and Umar Khatab (32no), to secure a vital win with two overs to spare.

Shelf are joint-second with Denholme in the Division One table after Jawaad Waheed and Kamran Ahmed took three wickets apiece to restrict John Breare to 128-7. Zahir Shah (38) then ensured victory for the home side.

Breare remain in a relegation battle with Tong Park Esholt and Smart Moves, who are all level on nine points after Smart Moves' win over already-relegated Bingley Congs.

Wibsey Park Chapel remain joint-top of Division Two after their score of 143-5 was too much for rivals Oakworth.

Jordan Laban's explosive half-century meant that Buttershaw St Paul's are level top after their eight-wicket success over plucky Daisy Hill.

Thackley remain a point behind the leading duo after Adam Boocock produced an impressive spell of bowling (4-8) to limit Queensbury to 81-8. Joe Ollerenshaw (38) then made sure that his team returned to winning ways.

Elsewhere, Stonewhite enjoyed a narrow win at Mayfield, while there was surprisingly no play at Indian Panthers due to rain.
