Jack Brooks and Tim Bresnan struck once apiece before lunch on the final day as Yorkshire chase LV= County Championship victory over Middlesex at Scarborough today.

The Lord’s side were set a target of 422 in a minimum of 96 overs when Andrew Gale declared the hosts’ second innings before the start of play.

Yorkshire reached lunch at 89-2 from 31 overs, including an unbeaten 42 for Australian Test opener Chris Rogers. Eoin Morgan was also unbeaten on nine.

Brooks had Nick Gubbins smartly caught low down at second slip by Adam Lyth in a penetrative new-ball burst, leaving the score at 18-1 in the eighth over.

Bresnan then had Dawid Malan caught by a juggling Alex Lees at first slip with 70 on the board in the 22nd.

Rogers offered a tough chance down the leg-side to Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps on four against Ryan Sidebottom.
